SME Bank integrates Softloans technology for faster business financing

SME Bank has started using the Bank Statement Analysis tool developed by financial technology company Softloans. By automating client transaction analysis, this integration allows the bank to significantly speed up the credit application assessment process for small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) clients in the Baltics, Finland, and the Netherlands.

Traditional bank statement analysis requires a lot of manual labor and time. The Softloans solution enables the bank's risk assessment team to instantly gain a structured view of a client’s cash flow, customer and supplier concentration, and financial behavior patterns. This helps deliver more accurate, data-driven financing decisions without unnecessary bureaucracy.

“As a fully regulated bank operating across the Baltics, Finland, and the Netherlands, maintaining rigorous risk-management standards is non-negotiable. However, as a digital bank with a fintech mindset, we know that SMEs need financing decisions quickly. Softloans technology helps meet this need, as daily transaction data provides a real-time, accurate picture of a business's health. This allows our teams to combine high bank-grade security with true digital speed,” comments Marius Bačianskas, Head of Baltic markets at SME Bank.

The new tool enhances SME Bank’s digital ecosystem, ensuring that small and medium-sized businesses receive decisions on loans or credit lines in the shortest possible time.

“We built Softloans around a simple idea: financial data should help lenders make decisions, not create more work for them. Working with SME Bank is a good example of that in practice. Their lending team can now use transaction data to get a clearer view of the businesses they assess, without having to turn thousands of separatel transactions into that picture themselves,” says Audrius Griškevičius, representative of Softloans.

This partnership is another step for SME Bank in strengthening its international position as a digital bank and providing modern, flexible, and secure financial services to the SME sector across the region.
